Marjorie Elizabeth Hunter
Coatesville, Pennsylvania
August 30, 1928 - November 5, 2024

Marjorie Elizabeth Hunter, 96, of West Chester, PA departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA.

Born on August 30, 1928, in Kennett Square, PA; she was the daughter of the late Kerry Walls and Henrietta Anderson Walls.

Margie spent most of her life in Kennett Square, though she also lived briefly in Philadelphia and Coatesville (Hayti), PA. No matter where life took her, she always returned home to Kennett Square. She was educated in the Kennett Consolidated School System and was a proud graduate of Kennett High School.

In her early years, she worked as a supervisor for Colt Ammunition and Norcross Greeting Cards both in West Chester, PA. She then moved on to the role of domestic household management for the Ward and Miller families- she truly adored that role and was loved by both families.

Margie was a member of Christ Temple Church and sang on the inspirational choir in her early years. She later attended Redeeming Grace and Love Ministries, located in Kennett Square. Margie also enjoyed listening to gospel music and was a host for Wilmington Channel 28 Inspirational Gospel Program for many years. She enjoyed traveling with the Mighty Clouds of Joy and attended numerous ensemble anniversaries in the tri-state area.

In addition to her love for gospel music, Margie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading the Bible, shopping, sewing, and tackling word search puzzles. She was a wealth of knowledge and a historian of all things Kennett Square and the surrounding areas. Margie was known for always having the latest news and a clever one-liner or funny quote to brighten anyone’s day.

Furthermore, Margie had an undeniable passion for fashion with an extensive wardrobe and could “wear a skirt suit”. Despite standing just shy of 5 feet tall, her small stature never limited her. Margie was independent, spirited, and always spoke her mind, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish her memory, all of whom will remember her with love. In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her sister: Sara Lockman and brother Kerry Walls.

The family is holding a graveside memorial service to honor Margie’s life at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Union Hill Cemetery 424 N. Union Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348.

Condolences may be shared through the guestbook link on this memorial page. Those who wish to light a candle in her memory are welcome.
